Fireproofing your marriage was a wonderful experience in many ways. The time spent with fellow Christian couples in small group setting, studying God’s word was very special, and a time to grow together. We feel that we grew and got to know each other better. The small group experience could be described as something everyone should experience.
We met for 6 sessions. We watched a short video clip and then got into scripture that led us to reaffirm the importance of the way God intended a Christian marriage to be. Each couple reaffirmed their own personal commitment in their own
marriage. We also relearned the great love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ at the cross and how this is the ultimate example to live by in marriage and personally each day.
The last meeting the group shared what they learned from this study
Fireproof…
~Focus on putting spouse before yourself.
~Selflessness starts out with a single act of kindness.
~God’s intention for marriage is to love for a lifetime.
~Marriage is a covenant between God, husband, and wife; and 3 strands not 50/50. We need God first, as head and then God’s love will pour out to each other.
~Be willing to respect each other differences.
~Your children are observing and learning from how you treat each other be an example.
~We need to thank God for his presence in our marriages.
God is good all the time and His Spirit is continually at work in us transforming us to be more like Him. We are humble and stand in awe of God’s continual Love. We as a group were blessed by this study. Cathy Haan has additional books if anyone else would be interested in another small group. Just ask Cathy to help you get started. You will be blessed as this small group was a blessing to each of our marriages.
